PRAYER MINISTRIES

Prayer is the interactive conversation with God about what we are doing together. Prayer is, first and always, listening to God — seeking to grasp what his will is in any given circumstance. In listening and perceiving God’s will, the pray-er is inevitably a participant of change, within oneself and those circumstances and lives for which we pray. Prayer is a process of lifelong learning as we seek to approach our Father with openness, honesty, and trust as his child. Our prayer is to be like a reflex action to God’s prior initiative upon the heart. - Richard Foster, Celebration of the Disciplines

Receive Prayer

"If you are having trouble, you should pray. And if you are feeling good, you should sing praises. If you are sick, ask the church leaders to come and pray for you. Ask them to put olive oil on you in the name of the Lord. If you have faith when you pray for sick people, they will get well. The Lord will heal them and if they have sinned, they will be forgiven." James 5:13-15

Our pastors are also available to pray for you and with you for yourself, or on behalf of others. We also offer prayers of blessing over homes (house blessings), prayers for healing (hospital and home visits), prayers for discernment (discernment circles), prayers of confession (confidiental hearing of your confession and the offering a word of forgiveness and reminder of your wholeness in Christ assured through His cross and resurrection).

Healing Prayer Ministry

Healing prayer is perhaps best summarized in the phrase: “Christian healing is Jesus Christ meeting a person at his/her point of greatest need.” Jesus does the healing, not us. Those praying are channels of God’s healing power and love. The “Gift of Healing” is given to those for whom we pray, not to those who do the praying.

In the Christian tradition, healing involves the well-being of the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. Often spiritual and emotional healing is needed before physical healing can take place. In praying for healing we are praying for wholeness, following Jesus who said: “As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons.” (Matt. 10:7-8).

HEALING PRAYER TEAM

Our healing prayer team is a group of women and men who have been trained in Healing Prayer. They offer In-depth healing prayer sessions by appointment, Healing prayer during an emergency/time of crisis, and are in the early stages of offering training for those who want to learn to pray, and be prayer ministers.

HEALING EUCHARIST SERVICE

On the first and third Wednesday of each month, All Souls Cville holds a special Healing Eucharist: a quiet, profound service that offers a mid-week respite for worshipers. All are invited to Holy Communion and, if desired, a laying-on of hands and anointing for healing of themselves or others. The liturgy begins at 12:15 and concludes by 12:45. Our sanctuary is open for prayer and quiet reflection 15 minutes before and after the service.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE FOR HEALING & WHOLENESS

On the first Sunday of the month, we create space in our liturgy for prayers of Healing and Wholeness. During these times, we pray for God’s healing and restoration on all who would like prayer. Our healing and intercessory prayer team is available after the Eucharist for indiviual prayer as well.
